The Astronomy Science Teaching/Rocket Operation, or AST/RO, is a club in which club members will go to elementary schools in Fremont and educate children about basic astronomy, such as the solar system, through fun activities like marshmallow rocket ships and model solar systems. We’ll also be having lessons for high schoolers talking about advanced astronomical concepts like parallax and stellar spectra, which will be led by officers. A lot of knowledge about astronomy isn’t necessary to apply for an officer position, just a passion for working with kids and a willingness to learn.
